Synopsis

During a temporary stay in Japan, the American Pinkerton marries a geisha named Cio-Cio-San, merely to pass the time until his departure. Banished from her family and society, the young woman, who has borne Pinkerton a child, patiently awaits her husband's return, unaware that he has rebuilt his life in America.

Adaptada de la obra de David Belasco basada en un cuento de John Luther Long, Madama Butterfly toca el corazón gracias a su exuberante orquestación. Alejándose de los tradicionales abanicos y flores de cerezo, el director Robert Wilson utiliza un estilo escénico minimalista que permite que las líneas melódicas brillen en toda su pureza. Ópera en tres actos, presentada en italiano con subtítulos en español.
